Helen has enjoyed a busy career in the singing world performing regularly in concert, recital, opera and oratorio. In Ireland she has performed with Opera Ireland, Wexford Opera, and Opera Theatre Company, and in London at the Holland Park Opera Festival.
She has performed at several of the leading Arts Festivals in the country most notably at Belfast Festival at Queens, and Galway arts festival, and in the Fortune theatre London. She recorded the sound track for the Frank McGuiness play "The Carthaginians"
For several years she has been away from the performing platform and has only recently returned to singing again. Helen trained with Jean Holmes in Limerick, and in London with Paul Hamburger, James Lockhart, and David Harper.
One of Ireland's leading baritones, Owen Gilhooly studied with Jean Holmes and subsequently at the Royal College of Music and the National Opera Studio supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. He has won many prizes including the Great Elm Vocal Award, The Madeline Finden Award and the West Belfast Classical Music Bursary. He made his Royal Opera House, Covent Garden debut singing Fauré - Requiem for the Royal Ballet and represented Ireland at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2007.
As a concert singer he has appeared at the BBC Proms with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and has been a guest of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the Irish Baroque Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
Engagements during 09/10 included Malatesta Don Pasquale for English Touring Opera, Hindemith's When Lilacs last in the Dooryard Bloom'd with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Brahms - Requiem with the National Youth Orchestra and National Youth Choir of Ireland, Figaro The Barber of Seville for Stanley Hall Opera and a return to Wexford Festival Opera as Lord Salt for the European Premiere of The Golden Ticket.
Recent engagements include Madama Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall, Elijah with Limerick Choral Union, Mozart Requiem with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the General in the World Premiere of Seven Angels with The Opera Group.
